Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM) is a forward-thinking mining company redefining the industry. We are seeking a Camp Maintenance to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site working a 7/7 rotation.
 
The McIlvenna Bay Cu-Zn-Au-Ag deposit is one of the largest undeveloped VHMS deposits in Canada. Foran recently announced (2024) approval by the Board of Directors for the project to proceed to the formal construction phase with initial production expected in Q4 2025. The McIlvenna Bay deposit’s core commodities are critical for the global transition to green energy and Foran aims to extract these critical minerals in a sustainable manner by empowering local communities, contributing to circular economies and protecting the environment for future generations.
 
As part of the Site Services Team, this position will be responsible for maintaining the operation of the camp facilities and utility services at the project site including (but not limited to) power, water, heat and air conditioning.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Daily inspection of camp facilities and report to Site Services Supervisor on maintenance repairs required;
  • Check water meters, fuel levels and propane levels at site storage facilities and communicate daily to Site Services Supervisor when re-ordering is required;
  • Pick up of garbage from various camp locations, transfer to main disposal site and arrange for off-site removal of garbage when nearing full capacity;
  • Maintaining parking lot at site based on seasonal requirements (removal of snow in the winter, maintain in the summer months);
  • Fuel all site generators daily, perform oil changes in generators as required and record all work done in generator logbooks;
  • Maintain water coolers and restock water jugs at site as required ;
  • Record water usage daily on clipboard by water tank and fill water tanks daily;
  • Perform daily checks on sewer containment and notify Site Services Supervisor when nearing full capacity;
  • Make trips to nearest community for equipment, materials and/or personnel as necessary;
  • Check waterline to camps as per seasonal requirements (daily in winter months, weekly in summer months) ensuring heat trace operation is working and no leaks are occurring;
  • Check lagoon daily and report issues to Site Services Supervisor;
  • Maintain project surface site by removing potential hazards such as (but not limited to) removal of ice and snow, sand, sapling growth on camp pad, removal of garbage/materials and dispose as appropriate;
  • Responsible for fueling equipment and Company vehicles as required;
  • Conduct preventative maintenance of Environmental ATV & snowmobiles and maintain logbook of work performed;
  • Shovel walks and keep doorways around camps clear throughout the day when snowing;
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies in camp to acceptable levels (ie. spares for oil changes) and submit re-stock orders to Site Services Supervisor as required;
  • Assist Site Services Supervisor with other duties as required;
  • Assist water treatment plant operators as required (provide transportation for them throughout site, chemical transfers and deliveries etc.).
Job Qualifications and Skills:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age;
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license;
  • Experience operating heavy equipment;
  • Possess basic knowledge of maintaining vehicles, generators, mobile equipment and other small motors for the purpose of changing oil, topping up fluids etc.;
  • Possess excellent verbal/written communication skills in order to work with a variety of departments and site personnel;
  • Certifications/qualifications in electrical, carpentry, water treatment, plumbing, gas or others preferred.
