Miner 2 Production Driller

Foran Mining Corporation (TSX: FOM), a modern mining company that wants to change what mining means to people. We are currently seeking experienced individuals for our Miner 2 – Production Driller position to join our expanding McIlvenna Bay team to start in February 2025. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site, in Northern Saskatchewan working at our camp on a rotational basis.
 
As a key member of the Underground Production Team, the Miner 2 is responsible for the operation of drilling machinery to safely and efficiently extract valuable materials from the earth. This role focuses on precision drilling in ground or rock surfaces according to precise patterns, depths and executing drilling tasks in a timely and precise manner. The Miner 2 contributes to the success of the mine and its production goals. Job Responsibilities:
  • Operate top hammer and in-the-hole drills to create holes in the ground or rock surfaces according to the mining plan and specifications.
  • Follow drilling patterns and depths as specified in the drill layout to ensure efficient extraction of minerals or ores.
  • Collaborate with mining engineers, surveyors and geologists to ensure that drilling operations align with geological data and production requirements.
  • Regularly inspect and maintain drilling equipment to ensure proper functioning and prevent breakdowns during operations.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and create a safe work environment for oneself and others.
  • Maintain effective communication with mining engineers, geologists, and other team members to coordinate drilling activities.
  • Work towards achieving production targets set by the mine management, optimizing drilling efficiency, and minimizing downtime.
  • Identify and address any technical issues or challenges during drilling operations, taking appropriate measures to resolve them.
  • Implement environmentally responsible drilling practices, such as proper disposal of drilling fluids and waste management.
  • Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including hole depths, drilling times, and any incidents or deviations from the plan.
  • Operate other heavy machinery or equipment as needed to support drilling operations.
  • Be trained in first aid and emergency response procedures to provide assistance in case of accidents or injuries.
  • Ensure that drilled holes meet the required quality standards and are positioned accurately as per the mining plan.
Job Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in an Underground Mine Environment.
  • Specialized training in underground equipment operation and underground mining safety is preferred.
  • Proficiency in operating various types of drilling machinery, including top hammer and ITH drills, to create holes for mining operations.
  • A strong understanding of drilling principles, techniques, and equipment mechanics is essential.
  • Familiarity with geological principles to align drilling operations with geological data and ore body characteristics.
  • Knowledge of drilling equipment maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure proper functioning during drilling operations.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in underground mining.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work in confined spaces and challenging underground conditions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary of $34.50/hr in addition to a highly competitive monthly bonus.
  • Potential Production Driller bonus range: Additional $15.46 - $37.67/hr
