Mobile Maintenance General Foreperson

Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM) is a forward-thinking mining company redefining the industry. We are seeking a Mobile Maintenance General Foreperson to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site working either a 4/3 rotation.
 
The McIlvenna Bay Cu-Zn-Au-Ag deposit is one of the largest undeveloped VHMS deposits in Canada. Foran recently announced (2024) approval by the Board of Directors for the project to proceed to the formal construction phase with initial production expected in Q4 2025. The McIlvenna Bay deposit’s core commodities are critical for the global transition to green energy and Foran aims to extract these critical minerals in a sustainable manner by empowering local communities, contributing to circular economies and protecting the environment for future generations.
 
The Mobile Maintenance General Foreperson will assist the Maintenance Manager by leading and managing a team of maintenance technicians, mechanics, and support staff engaged in the maintenance and repair of mobile equipment and vehicles at the mine site. This role involves planning, coordination, and supervision of maintenance activities to ensure the safe and reliable operation of mobile equipment, compliance with maintenance schedules, and adherence to safety standards.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • lead and manage a team of maintenance technicians and mechanics, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies, plans and schedules for mobile equipment to optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities to align with production schedules and equipment availability.
  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures for all maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Investigate and report incidents or accidents, implement corrective actions, and promote a culture of safety.
  • Conduct regular inspections of mobile equipment to identify maintenance needs, defects, and safety issues.
  • • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, ensuring timely and effective repairs.
  • Manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment necessary for maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure that the maintenance team has access to the required parts and materials to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repair activities.
  • • Generate reports on equipment performance, maintenance costs, downtime, and inventory levels.
  • Provide regular updates to management on maintenance progress and issues.
  • Identify training needs for maintenance team members and facilitate training programs to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in mobile equipment maintenance.
  • Assist in developing and managing the maintenance budget, including cost estimation and control.
Job Qualifications and Skills:
  • Red Seal mechanical ticket or a combination of education in a related field (preferred).
  • 5-7 years experience in mobile equipment maintenance, including supervisory or leadership roles.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mobile equipment systems, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental compliance related to mobile equipment maintenance.
  • Proficiency in maintenance software (CMMS) and computer applications.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive starting salary range of $110,000 - $123,000/year based on experience and qualifications. Annual discretionary short term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.
