ROLE SUMMARY:

Peter Ballantyne Field Services is looking for a Security Officer who is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of people, property, and assets at a designated location, such as a building, site, or event. They monitor surveillance equipment, patrol premises, enforce security procedures, and respond to incidents or emergencies as necessary.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct regular patrols of buildings, grounds, and surrounding areas to deter theft, vandalism, and other potential security threats.
- Monitor security cameras, alarm systems, and other surveillance equipment to detect suspicious activity and prevent security breaches.
- Monitor and control entry and exit points of buildings or premises, ensuring that only authorized personnel or visitors are allowed access. Issue and check ID badges or access cards.
- Respond to emergencies such as fires, medical incidents, or intrusions. Provide assistance during emergencies, including first aid, and notify appropriate authorities when necessary.
- Document and report any security incidents, suspicious activity, or safety hazards. Maintain accurate records of patrols, incidents, and actions taken.
- Provide assistance to visitors or employees, including directions or information about the premises, while maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor.
- Enforce camp, building, or site security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with safety and security standards.
- Respond promptly to alarms or suspicious activities and take appropriate actions to investigate and resolve potential threats.
- Work with local law enforcement, fire departments, and other emergency services during incidents or emergencies.
- Ensure that security equipment such as alarm systems, cameras, and lighting is operational and report any malfunctioning equipment to supervisors for repairs.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong ability to observe and assess situations, identify potential threats, and take appropriate action.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills to report incidents and interact with staff, visitors, and law enforcement.
- Ability to detect minor details that may indicate security breaches or threats.
- Ability to patrol large areas, respond to emergencies, and physically intervene when necessary.
- Ability to think quickly and make sound decisions under pressure during emergencies or when handling incidents.
- A professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with visitors, employees, or the public.
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, military, or related fields is typically preferred but not always required. On-the-job training may be provided.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is generally required. Additional security training, certifications, or licensing (such as Security Guard License) may be required depending on the location.
- Security officers may work in various environments, including office buildings,manufacturing plants, or outdoor sites.
