Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM) is a forward-thinking mining company redefining the industry. We are seeking a Surface Supervisor to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site working a 7/7 rotation.
 
The McIlvenna Bay Cu-Zn-Au-Ag deposit is one of the largest undeveloped VHMS deposits in Canada. Foran recently announced (2024) approval by the Board of Directors for the project to proceed to the formal construction phase with initial production expected in Q4 2025. The McIlvenna Bay deposit’s core commodities are critical for the global transition to green energy and Foran aims to extract these critical minerals in a sustainable manner by empowering local communities, contributing to circular economies and protecting the environment for future generations.
 
The Surface Supervisor will be responsible for the safe and efficient supervision of site services operations at site. This role includes overseeing the maintenance of Exploration camps, the operation of potable water treatment facilities, sewage treatment plants, the Mine Water Treatment Plant, and the waste rock ore pad. The Surface Supervisor will ensure that all services are managed in compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, while meeting the operational needs of the site.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and ensure the safe maintenance of Exploration camps and infrastructure.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and oversee operations and maintenance of critical site services: Mine Water Treatment Plant, potable water treatment plant, sewage treatment plant, and the waste rock ore pad.
  • Proactively monitor, schedule, and complete routine and preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime of critical infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting site services, ensuring swift and effective solutions are implemented.
  • Strictly enforce safety protocols across all site service operations, ensuring alignment with the company’s health and safety policies.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections of facilities, equipment, and systems.
  • Respond promptly to mitigate safety hazards or environmental concerns, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment for all staff and contractors.
  • Ensure continuous compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and internal policies related to site services.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise the site services team, ensuring they are trained, motivated, and equipped to perform their duties efficiently.
  • Coordinate efforts with other departments, contractors, and external vendors to facilitate the timely and safe delivery of all services.
  • Maintain effective communication with all team members and site personnel regarding operational tasks, safety protocols, and responsibilities.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all operational activities, maintenance logs, and safety inspections for site services.
  • Provide regular updates to the General Foreperson and senior management regarding the status of site services operations, maintenance schedules, and any issues or corrective actions.
  • Assist with budget preparation, resource allocation, and forecasting for ongoing site services operations.
Job Qualifications and Skills:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proven experience in site services supervision, camp maintenance, with a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Hands-on experience with Mine water treatment plant, potable water treatment, sewage treatment, and waste rock ore pad operations is highly preferred.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise staff effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety protocols, environmental compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Relevant safety certifications (e.g., First Aid, WHMIS, H2S Alive) are considered assets.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary range of $90,000 - $105,000 /year based on experience and qualifications. Annual discretionary short term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.
