PBCN COMMUNITY ADVISORY FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation - Deschambault Lake
This is to advise the members about the fire and air quality affecting the community of Deschambault Lake.
The Arm Fire remains burning out of control. The fire is not an immediate threat to the community as it is currently burning in a northwest direction driven by erratic winds. It has moved to 5 kms from cabins at Sandy Narrows but remains approximately 15 kms from Deschambault. Wind direction is expected to shift today to come from the north.
Saskatchewan Public Safety has one crew dedicated to this fire and servicing the sprinklers set up on the cabins at Sandy Narrows.
Smoke levels in Deschambault Lake may increase later today with the wind shift. Community members are encouraged to monitor smoke levels and take necessary precautions. Air shelters in the community will be activated if required.
The Chief and Council are meeting on regular basis with the PBCN Emergency Response Team to obtain updates about the fire situation to keep members informed.
Tiniki, thank you for your cooperation and stay safe. PBCN Chief and Council, and Emergency Response Team
